We Have the Power to Impact Our Future, and We’re Doing Something About It

OUR MISSION

Peace on Earth Ecovillages are devoted to co-creating ecologically, socially and spiritually inspiring communities as educational and wellness centers for a sustainable world.

OUR VISION

Peace on Earth Ecovillages Corp. fosters a global educational network to assist spiritual persons and communities seeking to co-create a replicable ecovillage model and through them to promote holistic eco-spiritual education.

Live | Work | Eat | Play

Imagine living in a community rooted in environmental sustainability where your safety and overall wellness is paramount.  Where the entire community feels like “home”. A home that adapts to you and your current lifestyle. A place where you can expect community gardens, living classrooms, opinions that are respected and dreams that come true.

What is an Ecovillage?

An ecovillage is an intentional, traditional or urban community that is consciously designed through locally owned participatory processes in all four dimensions of sustainability (social, culture, ecology and economy) to regenerate social and natural environments.

These ecovillages will include ecologically designed solar-energy homes, bioregional nature-reserves, organic horticulture and permaculture, communities of animals, cooperative spaces for work, art, and play, and holistic educational centers promoting ecological spirituality for all world religions.

In these ecovillages, individuals and families will be able to cultivate and experience an affordable, sustainable, beautiful, convivial, ecological, and spiritual way of living.

PEACE ON EARTH ECOVILLAGESnamed after the famous document of Pope John XXIII on world peace and supporting the global ecological vision of Pope Francis, is devoted to co-creating ecologically, socially, and spiritually sustainable communities (“ecovillages”) as educational centers for a sustainable world

The Project plans to begin with one small ecovillage as a prototype in North Central Florida (perhaps on 3040 acres) and to encourage the development of additional ecovillages elsewhere in the worldEach ecovillage would be made up of privately owned homes, plus common land for community use and for a nature reserve, as well as a center for education in global ecological spiritualityThe property would be titled as a landtrust. Privately owned homes would be built on permanently leased parcels, with leas-es purchased in perpetuity through onetime payments.

The homes would be simple yet comfortable and aesthetically appealing, as well as largely selfreliant for energy (from renewable energy), for food (from organic horticulture and permaculture), and for water (from solarpowered wells). The homes could be in separate units or multiunits. They would be for seas fulltime residences or as parttime second homes.

Homeowners could include individuals, couples, and families with children. Homeowners could also include both working people and retireesIn addition, there would be space for an educational conference center and perhaps for community businesses and a community school. Homeowners’ residence not being used at the time could be rented on a shortterm basis to participants in educational retreats.

This project has been recently launched by Pax Romana / Catholic Movement for Intellectual Affairs USA( CmicaUSA), which is part of the global Pax Romana movement. Present in more than 80 countriesPax Romana is officially accredited to the Vatican‘s Pontifical Council for the Laity. In addition, it holds the highest-level consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations, as well as with the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization. (Prior to becoming popes, the late Blessed Paul VI and the late Saint John Paul II both served as Pax Romana national chaplain, respectively for Italy and Poland.)

Peace on Earth Ecovillages will develop publications for ecological, spiritual and holistic inspiration and for practical action. It will also convene periodic seminars, conferences, retreats and continuing education opportunities.

Ecovillages arising within this network will seek to plant regenerative seeds for a creative alternative to the unsustainable consumer culture of modern industrial-colonial civilization.
